Obituary of Marcell Clipse

Marcell Clipse, age 93, life-long resident of Hawkins County, passed away on, Monday, January 29, 2018 at Church Hill Health and Rehab. He was a veteran of the United States military having proudly served in the US Army. He worked at the Mead Corporation for 10 years before taking a position in maintenance and service at Otis Elevator Company where he worked for 33 years. He served on the original Mount Carmel Planning Commission and for many years on the Election Committee. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior in his twenties at Oak Grove Baptist Church where the pastor was W. H. Parrott. He was baptized at McPheeter's Bend Baptist Church due to the fact that Oak Grove Baptist Church did not have a baptistry at that time. For the last 12 years, Marcell attended Ridgeview Baptist Church in Church Hill, TN. He married his sweetheart, Helen Ruth Hudson Clipse, and they were married for 58 years before her passing on December 19, 2002. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity. He was always first to help family members, friends and neighbors and was a person that could do anything whether it was plumbing, electrical work, carpentry or working on vehicles. He had a woodworking shop, where in years past he spent a lot of time making gifts. He will be remembered as being an honest and hardworking individual, which he instilled in his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor and friend. He was born on October 29, 1924 to the late Frank and Ida Belle Jenkins Clipse. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Clipse, Joseph Clipse, Clifford Clipse, William P. Clipse, E.B. Clipse, Clyde R. Clipse, Mattie Clipse Farmer; and half-brother, Charlie Jenkins. He leaves behind to cherish his memory 2 daughters, Sandra Clipse Jennings and husband, Donald Wayne of Church Hill, and Glenda Clipse Sexton of Mt. Carmel; 3 grandchildren, Crystal Sexton Tankersley and husband Brian of Kingsport, Velvet Sexton Descourouez and husband, Dave of Casar, NC, and Wesley Aaron Jennings and wife, Heather of Church Hill; 2 great-grandsons, Isaac Lynn and Jacob Aaron Jennings of Church Hill; and a host of nieces and nephews.
