Obituary of Nannie Maude Smith

Nannie Maude Smith, 96, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 8, 2015. She was born on September 3, 1919 in Scott County, VA the daughter of David and Lillie Hicks Horner. She was a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church for 60 years and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Walter Smith. Nannie Maude was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Terry Hart; son, Randy Smith and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Matthew Smith and wife Angie, Amy Nichols and husband Jonathan, Maria Gregg and husband Roy and Richard Hart and wife Peggy; great grandchildren, Andrew Smith, Zandra Gregg, James Gregg, Daniel Gregg, Nicole Buchanan and husband Aaron, Jacob Belcher and Jaxon Hart; great-great grandson, Niko Buchanan; best friend of 60 years, Lulu Parker Calhoun. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bob Lewis officiating. Music will be provided by Marsha Mullins and Glenna Parker. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Matthew Smith, Jonathan Nichols, Roy Gregg, James Gregg, Daniel Gregg, Roger Long, Bud Fox, and Mike Bays. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Smith, Richard Hart, Darrell Parker and Harold Young.
