Obituary of Hobert J. Quillen, Jr.

Hobert J. “Junior” Quillen Jr. 83, of Gate City went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 27, 2018. Hobert was born in Scott County to the late Hobert Quillen Sr. and wife Lillian. He was a graduate of Shoemaker High School in 1951. Hobert was employed by the Kingsport Press for over 30 years before his retirement. He was avid bird hunter and outdoorsman. Hobert was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Clinchport, VA.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Delila “Dee” Quillen; son, Stevan Roy Quillen.

Survivors include his sons, Mark Quillen and wife Mary Ann and Jeff Quillen; brother, Don Quillen; sisters, Phyllis Parker and Sue Gilliam and husband Ron; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends including his friends from Iowa the Main families.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Pastor Bob Cloud officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15pm to go in procession to the cemetery.
