Obituary of Phyllis "June" Wagner

Phyllis “June” Wagner, 85, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2024. She was born in Kingsport to the late Earl and Cornie Combs King. She lived in Maryland for forty years where she retired from the National Geographic Society and later followed her passion as an interior designer. June was a loving and generous person whose laughter and smile will be remembered by all who knew her. In 2004 she returned to Kingsport with her late husband of 60 years, George Wagner.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Riley, Wayland, Larry; sisters, Agnes, Dot, and Betty.

Survivors include her daughters, Gwen Wagner Mullins and husband John and Cindy Stevens; son, Billy Wagner; grandsons, Shane and wife Sarah, Brandon and wife Sarah, and Keith; great-grandchildren, Michael and Caroline; along with a host of friends and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6pm to 7pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport on Wednesday, January 10, 2023.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Thursday, January 11, 2023 at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity on one’s choice.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport is serving the Wagner family.
