Obituary of Nataleen B. France Dean

Nataleen Blessing France Dean, 96, of Gate City, VA, entered into the glories of Heaven on Monday, February 26, 2024. Nataleen was born on June 1, 1927 in Gate City, VA to L.D. and Hester Blessing. Nataleen worked at several jobs in the late 40’s early 50’s. She worked as a seamstress, a server at Coles Drug Store and volunteered at Holston Valley Hospital as a candy striper. Nataleen married James Lawrence France in 1951 and after many years of marriage, he preceded her in death in 1981. She made draperies for many homes in Scott County over the years. She and her sister Wanda also made many, many cakes for various functions through the years. She also served as a Sunday School teacher at several churches in the community. She was a Scott County election official for over 40 years. In 1995, Nataleen married Eldridge Leslie Dean. Together they shared a wonderful life and made many beautiful memories together.

Nataleen was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James Lawrence France; her second husband, Eldridge Leslie Dean; sisters, Gertrude Ripley, Emmogene Housewright, Eva McConnell, Wanda Hensley and Edna Grace Houseright Hensley; brother, Jimmy Blessing.

Surviving are her son, Tim France (Anna); sister, Linda Hensley (W.R.); brother, Roy Blessing; many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:15 am Friday, March 1, 2024 at Holston View Cemetery with Rev. Karl Berndt officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at 10:30 am at Scott County Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dana Ripley, Marty McConnell, Jason Hensley, Bruce Blessing and Greg Blessing.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Hensley, E.M. McConnell and W.R. Hensley.

Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
