Obituary of James Kenneth Wyatt

James Kenneth "Ratt" Wyatt, 77, passed from this life early Thursday morning (Feb 26th, 2015) due to complications from Parkinson's disease. He was preceded in death by his parents James Russell Wyatt and Hattie Pearl Smith Wyatt. Brother, Wilburn Eugene Wyatt. Sisters; Minnie Montana Oliver, Edith Lucille Melton, Mildred Rosalee Sexton, Helen Minerva Hatmaker. Nephews; Wilburn E. Wyatt Jr. & Wilburn Oliver. Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Charlotte Ann Salyers Wyatt; daughters, Pamela Minton and friend David; Penny Vaughn and husband Roger; son, Travis Wyatt and wife Kimberely; grandchildren, Casey James Lloyd and girlfriend Mallena Brewer, Matthew Thomas Wyatt and Emily Grace Wyatt;, and special pet, Moto The Cat Kenneth was born in Grainger county near Bean Station and then lived in Kingsport. He served in Germany getting back to the the United States just before the Berlin Wall was erected. James retired from Kingsport Times News in 1999 after 44 years of service. Now in his passing has joined the many co-workers and family who have gone on before. We are not sure when the nickname "Ratt" began but think it was from as a Baby and being the youngest of his siblings. It stuck for the rest of his life. He found a new talent for woodworking after retirement. He crafted many pieces and participated in several craft shows. He was a man with a strong faith and had an understanding with God. He was a wonderful loving, caring husband, Father and Grandfather. Visitation will be Sunday, March 1st 2015 from 4 - 6 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. There will be no official funeral ceremony. His life was a journey of Love, Laughter, Ups and Downs ending with the most challenging days of his life. Burial will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1 pm. in Oak HIll Memorial Park. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Judes or the charity of one's choice. Carter-Trent Funeral Home is proudly serving the Wyatt family.
