Obituary of Kenneth Darvin Pleasant

Kingsport - Kenneth Darvin Pleasant was born on April 27, 1924 to the late Robert Pleasant and Rosie (Pleasant) Wilson in Stonega, VA and peacefully passed away to go home to the Lord's grace on January 29, 2015 at Indian Path Medical Center. Ken was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II. He was an active member of The Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus. Following retirement, he enjoyed working in his flowers and watching birds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Wilson. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Beatrice (Carter) Pleasant; son, Bill Pleasant and wife JoAnn of Caro MI; daughters, Sharon Pleasant and Linda Ryans and husband Billy both of Kingsport; sister, Mary Smith and husband Bubba of Akron, OH; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, TN. Friends may also call anytime at the home of the granddaughter, Missy Wolfe, 856 Ava Drive, Kingsport, TN. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Everett Lett officiating. Music will be provided by Christy Castle and JoAnn Pleasant. A military graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with the American Legion Post #3/265 conducting the rites. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Indian Path Medical Center ICU and hospice caregivers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, 1734 Forest View Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
