Obituary of James Earl Lane

Kingsport - James Earl Lane, 94 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Emeritus Senior Living. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. Earl was a retired electrician having worked at Mead Corporation. He was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zada Ruth Lane; daughter, Judith Arlene Lane; his parents, G. D. Lane, Sr. and Ora Pet Hamilton Lane; 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Earl is survived by his daughter, Kay Porter and husband Ronnie of Blountville; son, Jimmy Lane and wife Barbara of Kingsport; grandchildren, Teri Templeton and husband Rick, Sonya Hensley and husband Tommy, Teronya Holmes and husband James, Tiffany Smelser and husband Mark and Brandon Porter and wife Dinah; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Pearl Boggs and Viola Wood; brother, Brady Lane and wife Millie; several nieces and nephews. At Earl's request, a private family graveside service will be held at Gunnings Cemetery in Blountville on Sunday, Febuary 1, 2015. Family wishing to attend, are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:55 p.m. In lieu of flowers or food, the family asked that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Emeritus Senior Living and his special caregivers. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Lane family.
