Obituary of John Connat Clark

J.C. Clark Church Hill- John "J.C." Connat Clark, 90 of Church Hill went to be with the Lord on Friday January 16, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born March 12, 1924, a native of Church Hill, TN, he lived a long and blessed life raising three children, farming and collecting antique automobiles. He treasured every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army, later to be awarded two purple hearts. John retired from Eastman, after forty years of service. He was also a member of the American Legion Hammond Post 3, as well as the VFW, Charles Dewitt Post. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Jimmie Louise Clark; mother and father, Joseph and Bessie Clark; 9 siblings; and a son in law, Lee Jay Bates. He is survived by his two sons, Johnny Clark and wife Teresa, and Steve Clark and wife Frieda; daughter, Linda Bates; grandchildren include, Steven Clark and wife Angela, Mandy Morris and husband Troy, Nikki Vaughn and husband Michael, Cody Clark, Brian Bates and wife Caren, Susan Shepherd and husband Chris, David Bates and wife Reva as well as several great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Music will be provided by Steven and Angela Clark. Military graveside services will be held 11 am on Monday, January 19, 2015 with American Legion Hammond Post 3 and Gate City Post 265 at Ross Campground Cemetery in Church Hill. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Ross Campground United Methodist Church, 242 Ross Campground Road, Church Hill, TN 37642.
