Obituary of Maxie Berry

Maxie Ruth Vaughan Berry, 75 of Church Hill, passed away (Saturday December 27th, 2014) Born in Blackwater, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Lucy Ann Vaughan. Mrs. Berry was of the Baptist faith; and was an avid gardener. She will be greatly missed by friends and family with whom she always shared her bounty of vegetables and flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Gay, three brothers, John Vaughan and Carl and Eugene Vaughan and two brothers-in-law, Harold and T.M. Berry. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, O.M. Berry; daughter, Alicia Dawn Mc Lain and husband Keith of Surgoinsville; two sisters, Lula Mae Bloomer, Ohio and Dorothy Robinette, Rogersville; two sisters in law, Velma Vaughan, Kingsport and Nina Vaughan , Ohio; her special pet cat, Butterscotch; several nieces and nephews along with special friends, Pat Webb, Norma Moore and family. The family will receive friends from 11 till 1pm Wednesday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. A service will follow at 1pm with Rev. Bill Tignor officiating. Burial will follow in McPheeters Bend Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith McLain, Mark Dobbs, David Kinchloe, Eddie Short, Mack Edwards and Fred McLain. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Dobbs and Dale Arnold. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Berry family.
