Obituary of Vivian Marie Gilbert

Vivian Bishop Gilbert, 67, of Duffield passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday (January 14, 2015). She was born in Kingsport, March 3, 1947 to the late Elwood and Thelma Tomlinson Bishop. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gilbert, May 15, 2014. Vivian retired from the Scott County School System. She was an active member of Thomas Village Baptist Church where she was involved in AWANA, H.O.P.E. ministries, VBS, WOM, and served on the kitchen committee. She was a member of the Hill Country Camping Club and a former member of the Pea Pickers Square Dancing Club. She is survived by two sons, Shannon (Tracey) Giles, Mt. Carmel and Rocky (Christie) Blakely, Gate City; two step-sons, Mark Gilbert, Hudson, New Hampshire and Michael Gilbert, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two granddaughters, Kayla (Aslinn) Sargent and Santana Blakely (Craig) Mullins; two grandsons, Gage Blakely and Chance Blakely; one great-granddaughter, Blakely Mullins; one sister, Sharon (Danny) Page, Duffield; two aunts, Inez Bishop and Kylene Stapleton; one niece and two nephews; her special furry friend, Pilgrim; host of friends. The family will receive friends from 11-2PM Saturday at the Scott County Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will follow at 2PM with the Rev. Buddy Osborne officiating. Music will be provided by Tony McGee. Graveside services will follow at the Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
