Obituary of Mary Brooks Howe

Mary Brooks Howe Kingsport - Mary Virginia Brooks Howe, 96, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Saturday January 10th, 2015. Born August 6th, 1918 in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ralph W. Brooks and Ollie May Rheuble. She resided in Dayton until after World War II. Prior to the war she married Dwight B. Howe of Minneapolis, MN. She then moved to Memphis, TN where she gave birth to her daughter, Virginia Ann Howe. She worked for Ford Motor Company and later Boyle Investment Company as an executive secretary. She later moved to Kingsport, where she worked for her son-in-law, Dr. Donald R. Halliburton in his orthodontic practice. In the latter years of her life she lived in Hendersonville, NC and Kingsport. Mary loved to read her Bible, listen to gospel music, and cook for her family. She was of the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dwight Burdette Howe ;her second husband, Edwin O. Almon; two sisters, Martha Durman and Elizabeth O'Harrow; three brothers, Robert, Clifton, and George Brooks. She is survived by her her sister, Marcella Horning, Summertown,TN.; daughter, Virginia Howe Halliburton and husband Dr. Donald R. Halliburton, Hendersonville, NC; two grandsons, Richard Hunter Halliburton and wife Amy of Kingsport and Cory S. Haliburton and wife Cecilia of Shelburne, Vermont and five great grandchildren, Hannah, Colin, Ella, Maja and Aaron. A memorial service will be conducted at 11am on Friday (January 16th, 2014) at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Pastor Roy Graves of Sunnyside Baptist Church officiated. Pallbearers will be Bill, Hunter, and Cory Halliburton, David Brewer, Larry Williams, Don Mason Rondon James and Larry Banks. Carter-Trent Funeral Homes, Kingsport has been honored to serve the Howe family.
