Obituary of Gladys Gillenwater Delp

Kingsport- Gladys Sluss Gillenwater Delp, 90, of Kingsport, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday morning (December 27, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Dungannon, Virginia and had spent the majority of her life in Kingsport. Gladys retired from the spinning department from J.P. Stevens with over 40 years of service. She was a member of North Kingsport Church of God since 1955 where she loved to worship her Lord. She liked gardening and enjoyed the fruits of her labor.
Mrs. Delp was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Frank Delp; father of her children, William C. Gillenwater; daughter, Judy Bishop Hensley; granddaughter, Angie Owens; great-grandchild, baby Hutson; parents, Lilburn and Mollie (Lane) Sluss; brothers, Nathan, Bruce, Woodrow, Kyle, and Dayton Sluss; sisters, Vada Beuris, Clarice Laney, Amilee Lane, Mazella Brickey, and Maxine Surgener.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Dwight Hutson; sisters, Ruby Napier (Johnson City, TN), Mildred and W.C. McCullough (Georgia); grandchildren, Warren Bishop (Stacy), Billy Bishop. Dwight Hutson, Jr. (Dawn), Amber Maynard (Eric), and Hayley Hutson; great-grandchildren, Beth, Abby, and Ally Bishop, Amanda Owens, Vivian Hutson, Micah and Autumn Maynard; step-great grandchildren, Jordan Lawson, Hayleigh Miner, Brock Allen.
Calling hours will be held on Monday (December 29, 2014) from 4 pm to 6 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence of the daughter.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Monday (December 29, 2014) at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Herb Winegar, officiating.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday (December 30, 2014) at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 10:45 am with Rev. Tim Owen, officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:40 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Research Hospital. 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
