TERRY D.  LAUGHLIN

Kingsport- Terry D. Laughlin, 56, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly early Tuesday morning (June 12, 2018).  He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School.  He also attended ETSU and proudly served our country in the United States Army.  Terry coached baseball for many years in the Bloomingdale and Sullivan Gardens communities where he mentored many young lives.  He worked as a Security Supervisor at Indian Path Medical Center for many years and volunteered as a Co-Op member with the Kingsport Lifesaving Crew.  He was a member of Walker’s Fork Missionary Baptist Church.  Terry was an avid UT fan and also a huge fan of the Nashville Predators.  He was preceded in death by his infant son, Gabe Laughlin; his father, Gregg Laughlin and his brother, Chris Laughlin in April 2018.

Terry Laughlin is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Sandy (Smith) Laughlin; a son, Greg Laughlin who was the pride and joy of his life; mother, Eileen Laughlin; brothers, Tim Laughlin, Scott Laughlin and his wife, Laura; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Judy Smith along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A visitation will take place on Friday (June 15, 2018) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence of Ron and Judy Smith.  A celebration of life service will be held on Friday (June 15, 2018) in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Bolden and Pastor Gene Mullins, officiating.  Music will be provided by Lisa Stout.  A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Color Guard on Saturday (June 16, 2018) at 11:00 a.m. at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery with his nieces and nephews serving as honorary pallbearers.  Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m.

In leiu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to be made to Kingsport Life Saving Crew or Kingsport Crewettes, 1800 Crescent Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660
