Obituary of Agnes Ruth Forbes

Agnes Ruth Stewart Forbes 95, of Kingsport went peacefully into the arms of her heavenly father on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Church Hill HealthCare and Rehab. She was born in Scott County, Virginia in 1922 to the late William Easman and Nellie Lane Stewart. Agnes was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School. Following graduation and during World War II she worked for Eastman Chemical Company. Agnes was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Nolichucky/Grandview #194. Agnes was of the Methodist faith and a former member of Boones Creek UMC.  She enjoyed baking for her family, looking after her children and others. Agnes was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Forbes; daughter, Priscilla Forbes Dockery; sister, June Ketron; brother, Stancell Stewart.

Survivors include her sons, Sonny Forbes and wife Sherry, Eddie Forbes and wife Brenda; daughter, Pamela Britton and husband Mike; five grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; along with one niece, three nephews and a host of special friends and family.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at East Lawn Memorial Park with Bishop Ronnie Ledford officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50pm. Friends may also call anytime at the funeral home or the home of Eddie and Brenda Forbes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab and Avalon Hospice for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Bridge No Kill Animal Shelter.
