Obituary of Larry McClellan Derrick

Larry McClellan Derrick, Sr. age 67, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 29, 2018. He was a dependable man and an ever present help in the time of trouble. He enjoyed fishing and being a handy man. He was a member of the Buffalo Ruitan where he loved to dance. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Sylvia Louise Derrick; 2nd wife of 5 years, Jacqueline Davis Derrick; parents, William and Sylvia Derrick; and brother, Daniel.

He is survived by his 6 children, Larry Derrick, Jr. and wife, Carol; Stanley Derrick and wife, Alice; Jason Derrick and wife, Kathleen; Cassie Osborne and husband, Elijah; Justin Derrick and wife, Courtney; and Brian Chadwell; 21 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Debbie, Carolyn, Diane and Connie; 3 brothers, Michael, Ronald and Donald; several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Larry Derrick, Jr. and Pastor Justin Derrick officiating. Burial will follow at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Cemetery.
