What a privilege and joy to read the record of this saint who ran the race well.
Although I never knew Rev. Blessing personally, I have been able to experience his legacy through his son, Bill, along with Carol Anne, Wren and David.
May God continue his blessing and comfort among your family and friends!

Bro Paul baptized me when I was 12 years old. He also married Larry and me 54 years ago. Having moved away, it was a joy to reconnect with him at Nova. My mom, Ann Dougherty is a resident there. She looked forward to his visits. He helped her through some difficult times. He was a joy and inspiration to be around. He touched so many lives. He will be missed by all. I am sure the saints are rejoicing !! A life well done!Y9r

Bill, Sue, Joe & all the family,
So sorry that I was not able to attend the funeral for your Dad. Please know that all of you have been in my thoughts & prayers these past few days. There are no words to express the appreciation & love that I have for your Dad. He was my first pastor, a wonderful friend & neighbor. I don't think there was anyone in Scott County, VA that didn't know him! He was always there for my family anytime we needed him & I have so many fond memories that I will always cherish. As I grew up at FBCWC he had a big impact in my Christian life & I will forever be grateful to him to leading me to the Lord & baptizing me.
Love all of you,
Starlete (Collins) Cochran

I will always refer to Paul as preacher. He was truly a once in a lifetime friend, pastor and mentor. He set such an example for us all to follow. He was a selfless and tireless servant of God all the days of his life. His energetic, joyful spirit were unmatched in any human I have ever encountered. Weber City and Scott County were better places to live because of Paul. He and all of his family had a profound effect on my life and I am greatly saddened by his passing. However I am even more inspired and challenged by his life. A life well lived !

Dear Sue and family,
Much to our regret, we will be unable to pay tribute to Paul by attending his funeral. Be assured that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Paul was truly a man of God who stayed the course and did God's bidding till the last! He comforted and rallied many a soul. Heaven had quite the day of rejoicing for Paul July 30th!

I am saddened to learn of "Preacher Blessing's" passing but joyful in knowing he is with our Father. What a testament to others of Christ's love for us. I remember well the morning I was saved at Gateway Baptist Church and your father praying with me and my sister. He has always been a special friend to our family as was your mother. You, Bill and Susie were pretty much my first friends when we lived next door to each other in Weber City. So many of my precious memories are of the days when we grew up and the wonderful times at the church. You are all in my prayers for the comfort that only our Father can give. How blessed you all have been. Love to you all.............Penny

Bro. Paul Blessing, lived up to his name. Like the apostle Paul he was truly a blessing to all. I first met Bro. Paul when I came to work at Scott County Funeral Home in 1962. He was constantly ministering to everyone with in reach. The joy he showed in life was real. He gave me a Bible for graduation that I still have on my study, after well over 50 years. He was a great encouragement to me as I entered the ministry and finished my college years. He ministered to our mother at the nursing home in Weber City during her waning years. He was always in our lives in so many ways. God rewarded him with many wonderful years and I know he has entered his eternal reward. During all my years in N.C. I have never forgotten him and his guidance. May the Lord bless you all in his home going.

Paul was a great minister who loved Jesus and it showed in his life. I always enjoyed his sermons. He believed you should deliver your message in 30 minutes after that he said your was loosing the attention of the congregation. He has touches so many lives in his 96 years. Take great comfort it knowing that he is in a much better place than us. May God comfort his family during this time.

Paul was one of the finest Christian men I've known in my lifetime. My association with him was as a team member on the development and writing of Volumes 3 and 4 of Scott County and Its People. Too, I would see him often at various community events through the years. He was a special friend whom I will miss very much.
May the Good Lord bring comfort to his many family and friends.

Family,
Please know that Shirley and myself are keeping you in our prayers at this time. I have many memories of Paul. He was a friend and supporter to me during my years of ministry as a pastor when he served as the Director of Missions for Clinch Valley Baptist Association. Later as I served as Director of Missions for Clinch Valley Baptist Association he was a very valuable resource and advisor to me. I appreciate his dedication and faithfulness to the work God had called him to do. He will be missed by all those whose lives he had touched in many ways. We will always remember his friendship to us. Again, we are praying for God's comfort and love to surround you now and in the days ahead.
