Obituary of Sillis Taylor Gibson

Blountville – Sillis Taylor Gibson, 82 of Blountville, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2018 at Holston Manor. Born in Hancock County, he had lived in Blountville for most of his life. He was a retired electrician. Taylor was a member of Gunnings Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Bell Gibson; sisters, Jean Collins and Carolyn Gibson; brothers, Willis and Eulas Gibson.

Taylor is survived by his daughters, Connie Tester and husband David, Ronda Morse and husband Bob and Melissa Sturgill and husband Jeff; granddaughters, Tamara Tester and fiancé Alex Martin and Olivia Sturgill; grandson, Staff SGT Brent Tester, U.S. Airforce; sisters, Bessie Swiney, Maudie Hurley and Diane Johnson; brothers, Delmont “Seven” Gibson, Talmadge Gibson and Joe Gibson; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Gunnings Baptist Church, 199 Shipley Ferry Rd, Kingsport, TN.

A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the church with Pastor Bob Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Gunnings Cemetery with Pastor Cecil Sturgill officiating.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of 4^th floor at Indian Path Medical Center, the nursing staff on Wing 600 at Holston Manor and Amedisys Hospice. As well, a special thanks to his caregivers, Rhonda Ward, Melinda Gross, Lou Crawford, Amanda Mora, Doris Bernard, Donna Hyatt and Steven Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gunnings Baptist Church (The Seed Line Ministry).
