Obituary of Donald Albert Strong

Donald Albert Strong 63, of Gate City went to be with the Lord and join his family on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Don was a graduate of Twin Springs High School in 1973 and later went to work for Eastman Chemical CO. where he retired after 39 years of service. Following his retirement he went on to work at Freedom Firearms in Kingsport where he enjoyed meeting new people daily. He was a member of Midway United Memorial Methodist Church. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Barnie and Cleo Strong; infant sister, Yvonda Strong; brother, Ronnie Strong; along with several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his loving wife and soulmate of 40 years, Connie Strong; daughter, Shannon Culbertson and husband Jeremy;  son, Shane Strong and wife Heather; grandchildren, Andromeda, Brennan, Caleb, and Jase; cousin who was more like a brother, Danny Enix; niece, Sheila Strong; along with cousins and other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Midway United Memorial Methodist Church at 5532 Veterans Memorial Highway, Gate City, VA 24251. A celebration of life service will follow with Rev. Janet Sweet officiating. The family will also receive friends anytime at their residence.
