Obituary of Claude Russell Blizzard

-Claude Russell Blizzard, 99, of Church Hill, went  home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning (February 2, 2019) at the home of the daughter, Frances Jenkins,  following a brief illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County.  Claude was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II.  He retired from the Meade Corporation following 30 years of service.  Following retirement, he loved to play golf and make crafts out of aluminum cans.  Mr. Blizzard faithfully attended Freedom Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Tammy Ferrell; a grandson, Russell Ferrell; his sons-in-law, Mac Ferrell and James Marshall; his great granddaughter, Skyler Ferrell; his parents, John and Clara Blizzard; sisters, Lelia Mae Calton, Nannie Bell Calton, and Virginia Tot Woods; brothers, Orville Blizzard and James Howard Blizzard.

Claude Blizzard is survived by his children, Shirley Marshall, Virgie Ferrell, and Frances Jenkins and husband, Bobby; his grandchildren, Lisa Ramey, Karen Derrick, Stephanie Meade, Kathy Summey, Brian Ferrell, David Marshall, and Jason Ferrell; great grandchildren, Josh Meade, Austin Summey, Jamie Marshall, and Brittany Derrick; his best friend, Sally Ann Price along with several great golfing buddies.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday (February 5, 2019) from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill.  A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday (February 5, 2019) at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andy Sensabaugh and Pastor Troy Daily, officiating.  Music will be provided by the True Faith Quartet.  A military graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday (February 6, 2019) at 2 p.m. by the American Legion Hammond Post # 3/ # 265 at Oak Hill Cemetery   with Brian Ferrell, Jason Ferrell, Benny Cook, Jerry Cook, David Marshall, and Austin Summey serving as pallbearers.

 A special thank you goes out to Amedysis Hospice for the special care given during Claude’s illness.
