
Obituary of Jack Perry Sloan
Jack Sloan, 84, of Duffield went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at The Wexford House after a long illness.
Jack was born on March 25, 1935 in Scott County, Virginia to the late Milan A. and Baby Kindle Sloan. Jack was a lifelong resident of Scott County. From a young age he worked with his father at many various jobs. Jack was a graduate of Fairview High School. After a serious motorcycle wreck in 1959 he went to Nashville to obtain his certification as a mechanic. He also worked at J.P. Stevens, Holston Defense, and as a pinkerton guard at the Press. He operated a gas station in Gate City, Va. for many years. He and his wife also owned and operated Sloan’s Grocery in Fairview, Va. for many years.
Along with his parents Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Chyrll Kennedy Sloan; brother, Houston K. Sloan; and an infant brother, Brady Milburn Sloan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Perry Sloan; special niece, Cindy Gilmore and husband Randy; and nephews, Mike Sloan and wife, Mary and Brady Sloan and wife Tonia; and several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Rev. Kenneth Neeley officiating.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 11 am at Holston View Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Neeley officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am.
