Obituary of Billy Eugene Barrett

Billy Eugene Barrett, 79, of Surgoinsville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Billy was born on May 18, 1940 to the late James Samuel and Bessie Alma Barrett. He was a member of the Clay Lodge #386 Free and Accepted Masons (Church Hill, TN). He was a retired Millwright and construction worker. His hobbies included fishing, camping, and gardening. He loved spending time with his granddaughters and his family. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, James Samuel Barrett and Bessie Alma Barrett.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Davis Ann Barrett; son, Jeffery Scott Barrett and wife Rebecca (Shelton); granddaughters, Stephanie Leigh Barrett and Josephine Samantha Barrett; brother, James Houston Barrett and wife Mary; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Rev. Greg Fletcher officiating.

A graveside service will follow at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CurePSP, 1216 Broadway, 2nd Floor New York, NY 10001, in Billy’s Memory.
