Karen Davis

Obituary of Karen Ann Davis

On July 27, 2021, Karen Ann Davis of Gate City passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 75. Karen is survived by her husband, John Henry Davis and was the proud mother of one child, Barry (Denise) Keely. Karen’s greatest love was her family. Her legacy includes stepchildren Johnny (Donna) Davis, Ronnie Davis, and Kathy (Dan) Vanden Bosch as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her surviving siblings include Dale Schaub, David (Janice) Schaub, Janet (Nick) Plichta, and Rita Taylor.

Karen was born November 23, 1945 in Traverse City, Michigan, the daughter of Clifford and Mattie Schaub. Karen graduated from Whitehall High School and later earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She enjoyed caring for others and thrived in her nursing career (that lasted more than 30 years). She reveled in being Den Mother to Barry’s Cub Scout Troop, loved playing catch with him at the local park, and taught sewing to girls in the local 4H. She delighted in the pulling of pranks and everyone was fair game. Karen was an avid card player and found great fun in rubbing it in when she beat you in a round. She derived immense satisfaction from the preparation of feasts for her family and was a wonderful cook.

Karen was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Keely; son, William Keely; her parents, Clifford and Mattie Schaub; sibling Larry Schaub, and stepson Todd Davis.
