My condolences to Jack's family.. He was a friend and inspiration to many and will be greatly missed. Jack has received his reward and is now with Jeanette and those who have preceded him in Heaven. I've known Jack through the Gideons where he was a mentor and would share many stories of his life. God Bless All.

Jack will certainly be missed by the many people whose lives he touched. We're sure he heard Jesus say "Well done, good and faithful servant" when he entered heaven. We have so many fond memories of Jack and Jeanette. When I a little girl at Cedar Grove Baptist Church I used to sit with them during the worship service. After Don and I were married, we ate at Center Street Restaurant and then Jack's. We always loved seeing him and his smiling face. After the restaurants closed, we still kept in contact with him periodically. He loved being at Elmcroft and interacting with all the people there. I'm sure he was always encouraging them and talking about the Lord. Ellen, the last time I talked with him, he told me how much he missed being able to spend more time with you and the rest of the family. He really loved all of you. Just remember you will see him and your mother again in heaven. What a day of rejoicing that will be! We are praying for Jesus to wrap His loving arms around you and give you the comfort and peace you need now and in the days ahead. Love, Shirley and Don Walters.

My fondest childhood memories was coming to Jacks and eating my favorites fried chicken, cooked prunes and a vinger and oil dressing salad. Jack my parents loved you and God blessed us with your friendship thru the years. God bless your family thru the coming days. Kingsport lost a legend.

We are praying for Jack's family and friends who I know will miss him terribly, but we are rejoicing for Jack's eternal reward. He is in heaven after hearing those words that we all want to hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant". Jack embodied what every Christian strives to be, a servant of Christ. I will always remember the prayer times as Gideons, when we would share our concerns and Jack was always encouraging and supportive. He loved the Lord and he loved people. He was an inspiration to me in so many ways. I would share with my sons all the time about Jack's service to the Lord. I look forward to seeing you again, my friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Jack was one of a kind. The world needed more men like him. I know it's hard to let them go but, it's not goodbye, it's see you later. Heaven is so much sweeter with your parents there. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to you and your family! I have so many fond memories of Jack. Dad and Mom also thought the world of him. He was Dad's Sunday School teacher for many years, and he and your mom were teachers in the youth department when I was that age. He was very helpful and encouraging when I left for college at Carson-Newman. I will always appreciate this. My prayer is that God will comfort you and your family. Vicki

Dear Ellen & Stu,
Vicki Cox Wallen sent me a Facebook message to let me know that your dad/father-in-law died this week. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dear daddy in 2016, and Ellen, I remember how close you were to your dad. He was the sweetest man and was always friendly and welcoming at LGBC. I will remember you both in my prayers.
May God's peace and comfort be yours during this difficult time. Love to you and yours,
Anne Leonard Trudel

Condolences to the family and friends of Jack May. It was always a special treat for our family to go to Center Street for a meal. Jack and his staff always made us feel so welcome. I was a “big eater” (still am) and Jack offered to fill me up with fried chicken. We went to the May’s house one evening for dinner to see if I would tap out on chicken. Fortunately, Jeff May took on the challenge to match me piece-for-piece. Not sure of the final tally, but the price for a whole chicken went up in the Kingsport market after Jeff and I were done. Rest In Peace, Mr. May. I’m sure my Dad is enjoying some of your great fried chicken while you both enjoy the company of your loved ones.

We were saddened to read about Jack’s death. My family absolutely loved Jack. Last time we were blessed to see and talk to Jack was 3 years ago at my dad’s surprise 90th birthday (Fred Bartley) It was so good to spend time with Jack. Growing up my family would eat lunch at Center Street. Jack always called me his “Chicken Girl”. His daughter, Lynne and my brother dated for many years and my sister was named after Lynne in 1969. His entire family was so special to my family. I know Jack was looking forward to being with the ones who went before him, Janetta, Lynne, and his parents.
Jack, we love you and we know Heaven gained another Angel.
