I am so sorry for your loss... Please accept my deepest sympathy. I just found out Flo was taken last night. My name is David Cliborne and I knew Flo for 15 years. I had called and talked to her back in August to tell her Happy Birthday. Then two days ago I called her to see how her Thanksgiving went and I got a recording saying her number was no longer good and wandered why. I discovered in the find-a-grave website she had passed. I will never forget the kindness and hospitality Flo showed me 15 years ago when I visited the Carter Family Fold for the 1st time. She opened the museum for me even though it was closed, got in my car and showed me where Mother Maybelle Carter lived, the house Tom T. Hall owned and would stay in while visiting the fold for music festivals, and the Holston River. After doing all this, she took me in her house and showed me a Victrola that belonged to Johnny Cash. This picture was taken 15 years ago by me. I can't express how heavy my heart is... May God be with the Wolfe & Carter Family this Christmas. RIP Flo... I will never forget you!
Love
David Cliborne

I live in the Boston area. I started coming to the Fold about 20 years ago and the first two people I met were Flo and Dewanna. They were very friendly and invited me back so I came back year after year and we became good friends. I would call Flo about once a month and play her a song on my harmonica. God bless her. She is with the Lord and all of her Carter Family relatives who have gone on before. Carl Lanzilli, Nahant MA.

Flo was one of my favorite people and a Poor Valley original. If her life was a country song it would be "Keep on the Sunny Side". Flo loved her family and her community with a love that was both genuine and generous. Growing up in the valley Flo was one of
my second Mothers. I loved her and she let me know she loved me too.
Judy and I consider ourselves blessed to have known and loved her. She will be missed.
Prayers for peace and comfort for the famlly.
