We are so sorry to hear about Sandy's passing. Whenever we think about Sandy, we can't help but think about her lemonade. Her lemonade always reminded us of the old saying "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade".....and she always made the very BEST lemonade! Love & Condolences, Bill & Toni Bowling

Sandie was my Mama’s best friend. She was always there to take Mama places and they had lots of fun throughout the years. Growing up, we lived across the railroad tracks from Sandie and her family. Sandie had such a kind heart! She helped me lots when I first started teaching. I know she is up in heaven enjoying a good conversation with Mama and many others. Blessings to Sandie’s family members who are left behind. She was loved by many!! ❤️

I can not express how much I loved Ms. Miller. She was my kindergarten teacher and later our PE teacher who came up with the funniest slogan for T-shirts for our blacktop gym at Shoemaker. Her kindness, generosity and humor were apparent. During my kindergarten year my father died and she packed my favorite lunch for a while: cottage cheese, saltines and chicken noodle soup. That’s what good teachers do, they go the extra mile for their students. I felt so loved and still do. Recently, she was so sweet she sent the cutest little scarecrow outfit for my son when he was a baby along with a replica of the parachute we would play with during her gym class. She was the best!!! Growing up, I remember having the opportunity to spend the night with her and that was a blast learning to play Simon Says electronic game at the kitchen table. I have so many fond memories of her sweetness. Please know she was loved by me and my family so much.
Love,
Ashley Shelton

Family and love ones,
I especially remember Sandra during her last year at Hilton’s, while it was still a high school. On several occasions I sat on the bench of the old Gem out back and admired her and the way she did long basketball shots. She went to Gate City High school the next year. I was in a lower grade at Hiltons still. I remember you sisters well! Love, “Sympathy and prayers, to each of you for your comfort during and after this time of grief and loss.

Sandy was a 2nd mother to me. She was my kindergarten teacher by Cub Scout den mother and I spent many nights in her home with Shane and Stacy. She spanked me, loved me, hugged me and corrected me when needed. I'm very saddened that I didn't get to see her this last year. But I rejoice in knowing where she is and that she is with Stacy now. Ill see her again one day.

My condolences to the family. She was my Kindergarten teacher in 1978 and made me fall in love with learning. I remember making butter around Thanksgiving with all my classmates and how patient and loving she was to all her students. She had a great impact on countless children's lives and I am so thankful I was one of them. She was loved my so many amd will be dearly missed.

I first met Sandra in the fall of 1956 when Gate City High School opened but I really got to know her when we carpooled as we commuted along with Norman Pierson to ETSC (now ETSU) during the ‘59-‘60 school year. Sandra was a sweet and wonderful classmate and I liked her a lot. My favorite memory was when she gave me a big wet kiss on my 18th birthday.
