Obituary of William Charles Reed, Sr.
On August 19, 2022, this part of William (Bill “Pops”) Charles Reed Sr’s life ended. Bill was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 1, 1932, and died in Blountville, Tennessee.
Bill was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a patriot and a Boy Scout leader where he received many honors and awards. Bill was a proud Korean War Vet having earned a Purple Heart. Bill marched in several Kingsport 4th of July parades honoring our veterans.
By occupation, Bill was an acoustical ceiling mechanic and retired from Mullins Company, in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendie Celeste Anderson Horne; grandson, Christian Anderson; parents, William and Gertrude Reed; and sister, Joan Foltz.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Reed; child, Meghan Brown (Juan); stepdaughters, Angel Repsher, Laura Hughett, Becky Medrano, Esther Gomez, Mary Hughett, Johnna Elakhamen; first wife, Patricia Smith; and children, Wrae Colleen, William Charles “Chuck” Reed, Jr. (Susan), Wayne Christopher Reed (Lisa White), Wendell Craig Reed (Valerie); and sister, Susie Wendt; Bill was blessed with 26 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 100 Canongate Road, Kingsport, Tennessee 37660.
Graveside services will be Friday, August 26, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Mountain Home VA; 215 Heroes Drive, Mountain Home, Tennessee 37684.
