Obituary of John Darren Duncan

John Darren Duncan went home to be with his Lord Jesus on August 10, 2023. Darren was born November 17, 1970 in Gastonia, North Carolina to his late parents the Reverend John Andrew and Joyce Payne Duncan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents Andrew and Garnelle Wright Duncan and aunt Pauline Montgomery.

Darren was a member of Bancroft Bible Pulpit supply. He traveled to many churches in a 5-state region making many friends. His musical talent and insightful preaching combined with his joyful devotion to Jesus made him a delight to all those who met him. His devotion to the Lord kept him preaching as long as he could still move. Even when he had to be driven to appointments, helped into and out of the pulpit, his desire was to serve, to preach and to sing and play praises. The Lord gave him talents and he multiplied them to God’s Glory.  “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

He leaves behind a brother Andy (Whitney) Duncan and many loving cousins including Nancy Goings, Becky McKinney, Roger (Dale) Duncan, Linda Mondro, Steve (Sandy) Lawing, and Donald (Rita) Hullett.  He also leaves special friends Sean Bailey and Lawrence Freeman and a host of others to morn his passing and celebrate his Heavenly home going.

A memorial service will be held at Red Hill Memorial Church on Saturday, August 26 at 12:00 PM with Robert Slone officiating. The church address is 4202 Purchase Ridge Road, Duffield, VA for any who wish to attend. The fellowship meal will follow the service at Red Hill Memorial Church.
