Obituary of Lois Alice Egan

Lois Alice Egan, age 97 of Kingsport, entered the glories of Heaven on Monday, October 2, 2023.  Lois was born on May 28, 1926, in Scott County, VA to Charles and Dovie Egan. 

Lois enjoyed her family so much; she devoted her life taking care of them.  She enjoyed flower gardening and reading.  She found solace in bird watching, especially the hummingbirds.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Iris Elizabeth Egan; sister, Nita Dove; and four brothers, Charles Egan, Lyle Egan, Scott Egan, and Ellis Egan.  Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Zane Egan and wife Suzie, and Horace Egan; two sisters, Wilma Gardner, and Margaret Blakely and husband Tom; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the staff at Asbury Steadman Hill and Amedisys Hospice for their care of Lois. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, (800)-805-5856, stjude.org, or to a charity of your choice. 

A graveside service to honor Lois will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Reverend Perry Gardner officiating.
