Obituary of Sara Jean Hutchins

Sara Jean Hutchins, 84, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2023. She was born in Kingsport to the late Noah and Mary Carter. Jean was an avid farmer and enjoyed working alongside her husband. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Jean was also a devoted Christian, prayer warrior, and enjoyed singing hymns.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson, Adam Hutchins; brothers, Hassel, Fred, Ervin, and Joe Carter; sisters, Charmie Kaywood, Mable Carter, and Elizabeth Wright.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, RC Hutchins; daughter, Mary Jane Hutchins; son, James “Chubby” Hutchins and wife Malissa; grandchildren, Farrah Snyder and husband Michael, Hannah Fritz, Kamra Fritz, Renee Hutchins, Richard Smith, and Matthew Asbury; great-grandchildren, Evan Snyder, Aubrey Smith, and Dalton Smith; special caregiver, Carolyn; along with several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30pm at East Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday October 7, 2023. Pallbearers will be Fred Hutchins, James Graham, Wesley Graham, Richard Smith, Matthew Asbury, and John Kaywood. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:20pm.
