Obituary of Rickey Dwhite Hensley
Rickey Dwhite Hensley passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 22.
He was a life-long resident of Kingsport and worked as a landscape architect for years in the Kingsport and Bloomingdale area.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Houston and Madge Hensley, maternal grandparents Charles Bruce Cowden and Jewel Scruggs Holliman, father Haskell (Pete) Hensley, aunts Barbara Hooven, Hattie Ingalls, and Barbara Griffin, uncles Charles, Billy, and Roy Cowden, cousins Chuckey Hooven, Jeanna Egan, Barry Gilliam, and Billie Roxette Cowden, stepfather Scott Carter, and stepbrother Dan Carter.
Left to share his memory are his mother Betty Cowden Carter, sisters Christal Hensley and Miriam Thornton, nephew Devin Kelley, stepfamily Rose Carter, Milly Hutchins, Willy Carter, Sue Tomlinson, Ruthie Graham, and their families, cousins Tammy Hooven Carter, Sharon Hooven, Sheila Blalock, and Joni Ray Ketron, aunts and uncles Shirley Cowden, Robert and Linda Cowden, James Cowden, Peggy and Harron Gilliam, and their families.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday October 26, 2023 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday October 27, 2023 at Arcadia United Methodist Church Cemetery, Kingsport, TN with Danny Fleenor, Gary Defreece, Ernie Thomas, Devin Kelley, and Joe Hutchins serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bridge Home No Kill Animal Rescue, your local food pantry, and/or homeless shelters.
