Obituary of Rose Etta Crawley Derrick

Rose Etta (Crawley) Derrick, age 90, of Surgoinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at NHC of Kingsport. She was a member of Midway Covenant Brethren Church. She was the matriarch of her family and was happiest when her family and friends would gather in her home for a meal or fellowship. Rose was so loved by her grandchildren who were the pride and joy of her life. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Derrick; son, Henry Derrick; brother, James Crawley; and sister, Jo Derrick.

She is survived by her 3 loving daughters, Ann Rogers (Glen), Janice Barrett (Clinton) and Becky Burchfield (Tony); 6 grandchildren, Clay Barrett, Lori Adams, Brad Rogers (Lauren), Landon Rogers (Amber), Amanda McQueen (Matt) and Kayla Rogers; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Purinton and Faye Collins; brothers, Andy Crawley and Larry Crawley; special niece, Judy Carter; several other nieces and nephews.

There will be a Funeral Service held for Rose at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill with Pastor Rick Meade officiating. Friends and family may gather at 12:00 pm to greet the family. Graveside services will be held privately by the immediate family at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Miway Covenant Brethren Church.
