Obituary of Martin Lee Hilton, Jr

Martin Lee Hilton Jr, age 75 of Nickelsville, VA, entered the glories of Heaven on Thursday, December 21, 2023.  Martin was born on February 14, 1948, in Nickelsville, VA to Lee and Ida Mae Hilton.  Martin proudly served his country in the US Army, where he bravely served two tours in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969; Martin was a Purple Heart recipient.  On August 29, 1998, Martin married his beloved Sherry, and after 25 years of a beautiful marriage together, she survives.   

Martin was a lifelong member of The United Boiler Makers International, and he enjoyed farming, working with horses, and beekeeping.  

Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Lee Hilton, Sr. And Ida Mae Ferguson Hilton.  Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherry B. Hilton; daughter, Amy Hilton; son, Martin Hilton III and wife Kathy, stepsons, Scotty Horne, Brandon Horne and wife Chole, and Daniel Horne and wife Tawnya; grandchildren, Abigail Grace Smith, Robbie Darnell, and Krista Henson; step-grandchildren, Lilly Grace Horne, Cameron Jett Horne, London Jude Horne, and Rock Horne; great grandchild, Cooper Campbell; sister, Lula Norris and husband Larry; nieces, Luann Pendleton and husband Todd, and Susan Austin and husband Ron; several great nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Lowell Lawson.   

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org  

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Scott County / Carter Trent Funeral Home Weber City.  A military graveside will follow at 1:00 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.  Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 3/265.  Mark Hilton, Steve Church, Scotty Horne, Brandon Horne, Mark Rife and Robbie Darnell will be serving as Pallbearers.  Mr. Lowell Lawson will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.  

 Carter-Trent / Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Hilton family.
