Obituary of Vernon B. Kern

Vernon B. “Boley” Kern, 74, of Rye Cove, VA, departed this life on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

He was born on November 14, 1949 in Kingsport, TN, a son of the late Leonard Washington Kern and Polly Ann (Alley) Kern. In addition to his parents, Boley was preceded in death by son, Leonard Bradford Kern; sister, Agnes Ruth Hill.

Boley worked in the coal mines for 18 years and then had an 18 year career working for Asplundh Tree Service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being in the mountains.

Surviving are his loving wife of 17 years, Hallie Kern; son, James Robert Kern; daughter, Vickie Arnold and husband Richard; grandchildren, Toby and Sheena Hass; sister, Bernice Bryan; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Morrison Cemetery, Rye cove, VA with Brother Denny Hass officiating. Music will be provided by Donna and Denny Hass. Family and friends planning to attend are asked to meet at 10:50 am at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
