Obituary of Mary Ann Helton

Mary Ann Helton, age 95, of Surgoinsville, had her Heavenly Homegoing on Sunday, March 10, 2024. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Surgoinsville. Mary enjoyed being a homemaker and quilting. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Coy Eugene Helton; parents, Joseph and Rebecca Canter; along with 7 siblings.  

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Rebecca Jennings (David), Doris Lewis (Jim) and Vickie Hughes (James); 5 grandchildren, Joseph Jennings (Jessee), Jonathan Jennings (Lindsey), Rachel Coclough (Dominique), Gene Jarvis and Sean Jarvis (Kara); 9 great-grandchildren, Isaac Jennings, Natalie Jennings, Noah Coclough, Isaiah Coclough, Mayla Coclough, Parker Jarvis, Hayden Jarvis, Brooks Jarvis and Lily Tackett; special friend and caretaker, Charlotte Cowan; several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Surgoinsville. A Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Tecky Hicks officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at McKinney Cemetery in Rogersville. All those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at the church by 10:00 am.
