Obituary of Avery Logan, Jr.

Avery Logan, Jr. age 90, of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Holston Manor in Kingsport. He was a Veteran of the United States Military having proudly served in the US NAVY. He was a retiree of Holston Defense (BAE) with 29 years of service. Avery was a devout Christian and attended Ebenezer Baptist Church of Kingsport and Mount Zion Tabernacle Church also of Kingsport.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Dean Logan; parents, Avery and Zinnie Logan; stepson, Andrew Dover; sisters, Mary Francis Logan and Jessie Gamble; and brother, Herman Logan.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Greg Logan (Annie); daughter, Junadean Conley; stepdaughter, Colleen Smith; 24 grandchildren; special grandson, Jonathon Logan Smith; 21 great-grandchildren; several great great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ford; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport, TN. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am in the chapel. A Military Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery. There will not be a procession, so family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 pm for the graveside service.
