Obituary of James Franklin Hall

James “Bud” Hall, age 82, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport surrounded by his family. He was a retiree of Quebecor/Kingsport Press with 38 years of service. Bud and his wife attended Genesis Free Will Baptist Church for the past 20+ years. Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially being with his family at their cabin on the lake. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who love him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston W. and Dorothy Hall; and parents-in-law, James and Molly Wright.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62+ years, Joann Hall; 2 sons, Marvin Hall and wife, Shelia, and Robert Hall and wife, Ann; daughter, Anita Powers and husband, Beecher; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Hall and wife, Jessica, Christopher Hall and wife, Maggie, Katie Stergios and husband, Jim, and Colton Powers and wife, Tina; 5 great-grandchildren, Landon Hall, Lakyn Hall, Malachi Hall, Tilley Hall and Allie Stergios; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Genesis Free Will Baptist Church of Kingsport. A Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Matthew Stone and Pastor Jackie Cole officiating. Special music will be provided by grandsons, Christopher Hall and Colton Powers. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am.
