Obituary of Elsie Marie Phelps

Elsie Marie Phelps, age 80, of Mt. Carmel, went to meet her King among love from family, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ on Tuesday, Febraury 10, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport.
She loved her church family at First Baptist Church of Church Hill and also the congregation of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mt Carmel. She was a retiree of Eastman Chemical Company Cafeteria with 25+ years of service.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Zane Yankee of Church Hill; parents, William and Mary Smith of Surgoinsville; sister, Mary Elizabeth Smith of Baltimore, MD; and brother, Billy Joe Smith of Surgoinsville.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Phelps, Sr.; daughters, Jill Yankee (James Benton) of Church Hill and Julia "Sissy" Phelps of Ormond Beach, FL; sons, Terry Yankee (Kim) of Church Hill and Bobby Phelps, Jr. of Blountville; special sister, Mattie Gatewood of Surgoinsville; grandson, Zane Yankee of Church Hill; great-grandsons, Dylan and Collin Yankee of Church Hill; and special sister-in-law, Janis Yankee Eaton.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Church Hill. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Gary Gerhardt and Pastor William Truman officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, February 13, 2015, at East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport, TN. All those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery. Sam Manis, Jamie McClain, Tony Morton, Brody Morton, Bill Williams and Jerry Nichols will serve the family as pallbearers. Lynn Parker, Joe Easton and Kerry Jackson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family gratefully and prayerfully would like to acknowledge the love and attendance shown from the Cardiac Stepdown Unit, CCU and Hospice of Wellmont including Dr. Green and Dr. Neglia as the physicians.
