Obituary of Gwen Guy
II Timothy 4:7,8a I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of a righteousness
Phillipians 3:13
Gwen Guy, 40, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Monday (February 3rd, 2015)
A loving mother, daughter, fiancé and friend, she has lived in Kpt all of her life. She was a 1993 graduate of Sullivan North High School. She enjoyed being outdoors, working in her garden and special walks with her dog, Angus.
Her family would like for her to be remembered as caring, happy and full of life. She was the bravest, kindest, most loving person they knew. She was our best friend. She was loved and cared for by many. Knowing that she's not in pain anymore brings them peace.
She loved her little nephew, Matthew. He would brighten her day by drawing her pictures and doing impressions to make her laugh.
Throughout her illness she faced each moment with courage and dignity. Cancer may have won the battle, but she won the fight. (II Timothy 4:7,8)
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Richard and Oshea Guy.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Ashley Guy; son, Austin Jones; parents, Richard and Barbara Guy; brother, Brian Guy and wife Amy; nephew, Matthew; maternal grandparents, Bobby and Faye Franklin; uncles, Charlie Franklin, Roger Guy, Alfred Guy and Paul McConnell; aunt, Charlotte McConnell; cousins, Kim Baker and Christy Ramsey; and fiancee', Chris Oaks and his son, Austin Oaks.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30pm Thursday (February 5th, 2015) at Scott County Funeral Home. A service will follow with Dr. Phil Kidd officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 12 noon Friday ( February 6th, 2015) at Holston View Cemetery. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:15am to follow in procession. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Special thanks should go to the doctors and staff of Wellmont Cancer Center in Allandale for their care.
