Obituary of Jerry Allison Kilgore
Jerry Allison Kilgore, 68, of Gate City, passed away unexpectedly (Wednesday December 10, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Jerry worked for several years for Mason Dixon, and in the latter years for himself on his farm.
He was a gentle soul who loved the outdoors and loved to ride his motorcycle. He would do anything for anyone without expecting anything in return.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Kilgore
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Kerns Kilgore; mother, Ruth McConnell Kilgore; son, Aaron Kilgore, daughter, Allison Graham (Tommy); stepsons, Tony Casteel (Patricia) and Danny Kerns (Amy); stepdaughter, Tammy Ashworth (Henry); grandchildren, Erik and Bryan Burke, Nathaniel Ashworth, Tiffany and Madison Casteel, Morgan and Reagan Kerns, T.J. and Tyler Casteel and Hunter and Kendyll Graham; brother, Danny Kilgore (Susan); niece and nephew, Rebecca and Chris Kilgore
The family will receive friends from 5 till 7pm Thursday (December 11, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home. A service will follow at 7pm with his stepson, Bro. Danny Kerns officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2pm Friday at the Kilgore Family Cemetery. The American flag will be presented by the Virginia National Guard.
Pallbearers will be Hunter and Tommy Graham, Henry Ashworth, Adam Sampson, Matt Williams, Ronnie Bevins, and Roger McClellan. Honorary pallbearers are Erik Burke, Bryan Burke, Billy Bob Pendleton, Todd Pendleton, Deshea Russell, Chris Kilgore and Joe Roop. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the family home at 1:50pm
Instead of flowers, it would please the family if donations were made to his wife to help with expenses.
