Obituary of Maurice Lester Williams
Maurice L. Williams, age 71, of Kingsport, entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 6, 2014, peacefully at home. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Morrison Chapel United Methodist Church. He will be remembered by his family as everyone's "handy man." Even through sickness Maurice always shared his sense of humor and smile with those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin F. and Eileen Adams Williams; sister, June Peters; and special brothers-in-law, Billy Ray Williams and Burl Peters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Martha Starnes Williams; daughters, Melinda Oakes (Leonard) and Sherry Shelton (Steve); son, Mark Williams (Dawn); grandchildren, Austin Oakes, Amanda Musick (Nathan), Landon Oakes, Reece Williams, Andrew Williams and Grayson Oakes; special sister, Phyllis Williams of Weber City; several special nephews, nieces, cousins, special friends and coworkers from the Eastman Chemical Company.
The family would like to thank all who have prayed for Maurice and his healing and comfort through the years and especially all those who have cared for him.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Monday, December 8, 2014, at Scott County Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm. with Rev. Bob Cloud and Rev. Paul Lane officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #3/265 Honorguard in Holston View Cemetery.
