Obituary of Shirley Ann Howell
Shirley Ann (Nannie) Taylor Howell, 78, of Nickelsville, went to be with the Lord Sunday (November 30th, 2014) at her home.
She lived most of her life in Scott County. A faithful member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church, she loved the Lord, her children, grandchildren and everyone else's children. Nannie was a pillar in the community, and a friend to all. Her home was always open to everyone, and always filled with laughter.
She gave of her herself, her time, and her talents. She gave and she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Author and Ruby Kate Taylor, her husband, Norris Howell; great grandson, Abraham Howell.
Nannie leaves to cherish her memory, her kids, Danny Howell and wife Anita, Tina Williams and husband Mark, Pam Powers and husband Randy, Sheila Mays and husband Vern, and Sherri Dickenson and husband Travis; her grandkids, Jason Howell and wife Christie, Richard Howell and wife Jessica, Candace Bennett and husband Brent, Sarah Powers, Marc Arthur and Anna Williams, Dustin Mays, Morgan Hazlett and husband Austin, and Matthew and Logan Dickenson; great grandkids, Cheyanne, Sierra, and Dakota Howell, Kayle Gibson, Charity Howell, Connor and Kellan Bennett; her siblings, Flo Dingus and husband Edwin, Wayne Taylor and wife Lola, Gaye Salyer and husband Donnie, Judy Bays and husband Bobby, and Teresa Cooper and husband Rick; sister in law, Fonda Bishop and husband Kilroy, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 till 7pm Tuesday (December 2nd, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home. A service will follow at 7pm with Rev. Riley Boy and Rev. Daryle Housewright officiating. Music will be provided by Roger, David and Deb Easterling.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11am Wednesday at Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jason Howell, Richard Howell, Marc Williams, Dustin Mays, Matthew Dickenson and Logan Dickenson. Honorary pallbearers are Austin Hazlett, Brent Bennett, Kerry Broadwater, Zach Taylor, Pance Kecev, Jim Francisco and many special nieces and nephews.
Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:20am to follow in procession.
