Obituary of - "Ronnie" Davis

Charles Ronald Davis "Ronnie" - "Ron" was born at home in the Gravely community of Kingsport, TN on Sept. 15, 1941 to Charles Lester Davis and Nannie Mae Salling Davis. After a 15 month battle with cancer, he left his earthly home in Church Hill, TN on Nov. 8, 2014 and was carried by the angels to the paradise of the Lord; there to personally meet his Savior, Jesus Christ, to whom he gave his heart in 2006. Thank you to the good men at New Fellowship Ministries who through your friendship, love and discipleship, showed Ron there was REAL life in Jesus. As a young man Ron was very athletic. He played varsity football at the high school level while still an eighth grader and varsity basketball as a high school freshman. He was a carpenter by trade; building many homes, apartment complexes and businesses in the area. He enjoyed several hobbies in his lifetime: boating; restoring antique vehicles; TN walking horses and finally found his real love: his beloved mule team of Jack and Mack. Ron and his good friend from childhood, Johnny Garber, built two show wagons for the team of mules which Ron used in competitions in TN and VA. The man and his mules were a blue-ribbon winning team taking home the "silk", as Ron called it, each time they showed. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lester Davis and son-in-law, Glen Watson. Surviving is his wife, Sandra; daughters, Rhonda Watson, Tracy Begley and husband, George; stepson, Brent Skelton and wife, Shelly; mother, Nannie Mae Davis; grandchildren, Amanda Ferrell and husband Jon, Heather Begley, Benjamin Watson, Tristan Skelton; great granddaughters, Sophie Ferrell and another expected in January; sister, Ina Bowers; brothers, David Davis and wife Shirl, and Don Davis; nephew, Mark Davis; niece, Jennifer Bowers Hunt and her son Avery; along with an uncle, several aunts, many cousins. The family will receive friends at New Fellowship Ministries church at 614 Old Stage Road, Church Hill, TN from 3 - 5 pm on Tuesday, Nov 11, 2014. Funeral service will follow at 5 pm, officiating will be Ron's brother-in-law, Bishop Larry K. Knowles. Ron's wish and request was to donate his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at ETSU. In lieu of flowers Ron would want you to do a good deed for someone; just the way many of you have been doing for us. We are so thankful for all everyone has done. Thank you to the Amedisys hospice nurses, Jeff, Becky, August and Kathy. So take a meal to someone, mow a lawn; take firewood to warm a home; just spend some time with someone sick, lonely or needing a friend; make a donation to a church or charity.
