Obituary of Roger Lee Kerns

Roger Lee Kerns, age 66, of Mt. Carmel, entered into eternal rest, on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the proud owner of Snyder Real Estate in Kingsport for over 20 years. He attended Higher Ground Baptist Church and Herman United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the West Kingsport Optimist Club, North Kingsport Volunteer Fire Department and Masonic Lodge #688 in Kingsport. He was a graduate of Lynn View High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Flora Kerns; brothers, Bill Kern and Bob Kern; and brother-in-law, Dean Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Reta Johnson Kerns; daughters, Kellie Egan and husband, Lynn, and Amber Adams and husband, Jared; 5 grandchildren, Garrett Payne, Gracie Egan, Jaylie Adams, Katie Egan and Jarren Adams; sister, Jean Bates; brothers, James R. (Jim) Kerns and wife, Wilma, Tom Kern and wife, Faye, and Larry Kerns and wife, Joyce; mother-in-law, Frances Johnson; brother-in-law, Jack Johnson, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and special friends, Larry Dishner, Adrian Lyon, Jeff Clipse, Danny Estes, David Larkins and Ron Russell. The family would like to especially thank all of the caregivers for their love and support. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Christ Fellowship Church at 260 Victory Lane, Kingsport, TN 37660. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 5:00 pm with Pastor Randy Powers of Herman United Methodist Church officiating and music provided by Rev. Tony French. Carter-Trent Funeral Home is honored to serve the Kerns family.
