Obituary of Laura Puckett Scott

Laura Leigh Surgenor Puckett Scott, 40 of Kingsport (formerly of Church Hill) passed away unexpectedly late Thursday night at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was a graduate of Sullivan North High School in 1992 and attended ETSU. Laura was currently employed, with 17 year of service with BCD travel, an affiliate of Eastman Chemical Company. She loved to volunteer her time helping her daughter with the LGOC Mudcats and also helped for many years with the Girl Scouts Troop #429. Laura was proud to have helped coach a volleyball team with Church Hill Parks and Recreation. She grew up and was active as a child in Arcadia Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, Buford & Claudia Turner and George and Hazel Surgenor, Sr.; an aunt, Julia Turner and an uncle, George Surgenor. Survivors include her husband, Jeffery Scott; daughter, Aubree Puckett; step-daughter, Savannah Scott; step-granddaughter, Aiden Addison; her parents, Michael & Frankie Surgenor; sister, Carrie Warner & husband Brent; nephew, Blain Warner; niece, Blair Warner; and best friend, Becky Russell & husband Tim. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7 pm on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the parents residence. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the chapel with Rev. Larry Stallard, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City with Jeremy Harris, Robbie Brewer, Jeremy Fannon, Lee White, Shannon Puckett and Jason Wade serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Surgenor, Larry Kinsler, David Wade, and Charles Newland. Those attending are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 p.m. to go in procession. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Scott family.
