Obituary of Zona Gay Feathers

Zona Gay Bridwell Feathers, 82, of Blountville went home to be with the Lord Saturday morning July 5, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 9, 1932 to the late Denver Jess Bridwell and the late Dorcus Bridwell Elsea. Mrs. Feathers was a graduate of Blountville High School. Shortly after graduating high school, she was hired as a Deputy Clerk for the Sullivan County Clerk's Office. She worked in the Clerk's office for 46 years, serving as the County Court Clerk from 1986 until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of Airport Christian Church wherein she served on the Board and on several committees. She was a loving mother, nanny, sister, friend and her memory will be forever cherished in our hearts. She loved spending time with her family and friends, going to the beach and loved the UT Vols. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brandi Nicole Stanley and her brother, Ed Bridwell. Surviving are her loving daughter, Kathy Feathers Stanley; granddaughters, Jessica Stanley and Ashtyn Stanley; great granddaughters, Lillian Ratliff and Averi Hinkle; sister, Sue Tyner; brothers, Fred Bridwell and wife, Phyllis and Larry Bridwell and wife, Rosetta and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7 pm Monday, July 7, 2014 at Blountville Christian Church, 1680 Blountville Blvd, Blountville, TN. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 pm at the church with Rev. David Ensminger officiating. The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Anil Tumkir, the nurses and staff of Kingsport Hematology and Oncology and Amedysis Hospice for their support and loving care.
