Obituary of Bettie Starnes

Bettie Jean Fletcher Starnes, 77, died Wednesday morning (June 11, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born in Nickelsville, Va; but had lived in Kingsport most of her life. She worked as a nurse's aide with several nursing homes and hospitals over the years. She loved to research geneology in her spare time. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Bill Fletcher and Goldie Harris Fletcher Thompson; stepfather, Walter Thompson; sisters, Sybil Templeton, Janet Dockery, Fern Whited and Delores Fletcher; brothers, Harold Fletcher and Joe Fletcher She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James M. (Jim) Starnes; sons and daughters in law, Jeff Starnes and wife Shelby and Mark Starnes and wife Karen; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Lois Carter and Shirley Salley The family will receive friends from 11 till 1pm Friday (June 13th, 2014) at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1pm with Pastor David Bolden and Pastor David Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Starnes Family Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore, Va. Pallbearers will be Bob Brock, David Weston, Randall Barger, Tim Sams, Charlie Hicks and Jason Goodman. Honorary Pallbearers are Danny Whited, Junior Bowen, Ralph Sanders and Guy Sanders Carter-Trent/ Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Starnes family. .
