Obituary of Virgil Dillon

Virgil Mitchell Dillon, 68, of Kingsport, entered into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday (May 28, 2014) at Indian Path Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. He served his country in the U.S. Army after graduating from Ketron High School, and worked at Eastman Chemical Company until retiring in 1999. Virgil coached Bloomingdale T-Ball and AABC 9-10 year-old Willie Mays Division for 23 years. He also coached Bloomingdale Optimist basketball. Virgil was known for his kindness and his loving heart. Mr. Dillon was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Sylvia (Lawson) Dillon, his daughter Deborah Lene (Dillon) Meade, and his brother Larry Edward Dillon. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 38 years, Deborah (Debbie) Parker Dillon; his sister, Phyllis (Dillon) Zeoli and husband, Dennis; a daughter, Vicki Price and husband, Mike; his sons, Major Jason Dillon and wife, Tina, CW3 Donald Dillon and wife, Heather; grandchildren, Jordan Meade, Haley Cutshall, Ethan Dillon, Jonathan Proffitt, Leslie Price, Isabel Dillon, Emily Dillon, Emma Dillon, Eli Dillon, and Jacob Dillon; great granddaughter, Emma Bailey; his nephew, James Richards along with several loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Sunday (June 1, 2014) from 1 pm to 3 pm at Bloomingdale Baptist Church or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 pm at the church with Pastor Phil Whittemore, officiating. Music will be provided by Anna Taylor and Carol Hackler along with Bloomingdale Baptist Church Choir. A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post # 3/ # 265 following the funeral at Washington County Memory Gardens with Jason Dillon, Ethan Dillon, Donald Dillon, Jonathan Price, James Richards, Dennis Zeoli, Cecil Lawson, Mike Price and Luke Stacy serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Virgil's Men's Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Center, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Dillon family.
