Obituary of Jack McMurray

Wolmar Jack McMurray Jr, (Jackie) age 44, Kingsport, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Indian Path Medical Center due to cardiomyopathy and other heart related issues. He graduated from Kingsport Christian School in 1987. He was a former member of Kingsport Baptist Temple and was saved at an early age. He retired from Douglas Dynamics in 2009 due to his declining health. In school, he loved to play basketball and soccer. Jackie had a good sense of humor, he loved to fish and spend time with his daughters. He loved to go target practice shooting with his family and was proud to get his handgun permit. He loved the mountains and sightseeing at Cades Cove. He was preceded in death by his mother Judy Calhoun McMurray, his maternal grandparents Bonnie and Bascom Calhoun and paternal grandparents, Coy and Susie McMurray and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife Misty Noles McMurray, two daughters Hope & Emily McMurray, father Wolmar Jack McMurray Sr, four sisters Michelle Luster & husband Chris, Rebecca Brown & husband Brad, Kendra Daley and Laura Ricketts & husband Larry. Four nieces Ashley & Abby Luster, Aubrey & Sophia Daley and one nephew Jack Ricketts. Two aunts Kathey Wiggins & husband Ralph and Brenda France & husband Freddie, one uncle Warren McMurray & wife Helen, as well as several cousins. Visitation will be Sunday, May 25 at 4:00 to 6:00pm with funeral services to follow at 6:00pm at Scott County Funeral Home with Pastor J.W. Depew and Rev. Rex McMurray officiating. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Monday, May 26 at the McMurray Cemetery, Hiltons, Va. Those who plan to attend are asked to join the family at the funeral home by 9:45am to follow in procession. Pallbearers will be Chris Luster, Brad Brown, Larry Ricketts, Joe Broadwater, Phillip Flores, Kyle Browder, Harold Jobe, and Tommy Jobe. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Moles, Allen Flores, Ralph Wiggins and Freddie France. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr Stephen Ikele, the nursing and respiratory staff on ICU and 5th floor of Indian Path Medical Center for the care provided during this difficult time and Dr Christopher Matthews and staff for being Jack's primary care physician throughout his illness.
