Obituary of Katye King

KATYE KING Church Hill- Mary Kathryn (Katye) King, 68, of Crestview Street, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning (May 21, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born in Lafollette, Tennessee and had lived in Church Hill since 1980. Katye was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and went on to retire as a music teacher from the Hawkins County School System. Mrs. King was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Church Hill where she served as Organist, Assistant Pianist, Children's Graded Choirs Director, VBS Music Director, WMU, Jubilation Ensemble Director along with numerous other positions within the church. She proudly taught piano lessons for over 40 years. Her family and church was such a vital role in her life. She was preceded in death by her father, E. C. Wilson; an infant sister, Phyllis Ann Wilson; grandson, Jerrod Weems; Katye King is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Wayne (Bud) King; her children, Jason King and wife, Cindy, Hilary Weems and husband, Danny, Chad King, John King and wife, Emily; her mother, Louvenia Wilson; grandchildren, Cassidy King, Josh Horne and wife, Ashley; Brittany McCullough; Justin Trent; and Ashley Trent, Avery Weems, Abby Weems, Anna Weems, Lauryn King, Riley King, and Halle King; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Horne and Kendall Trent; a sister, Peggye Higdon and husband, Ronald; her brother, Sonny Wilson and wife, Suzi along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends. Calling hours will be held on Saturday (May 24, 2014) at First Baptist Church, Church Hill from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. or friends may also call anytime at the residence in Church Hill. A funeral service will be held on Saturday (May 24, 2014) at First Baptist Church, Church Hill following the visitation with Pastor Gary Gerhardt, officiating. Music will be provided by Gary Rice. A graveside service will be conducted at 12 pm on Sunday (May 25, 2014) at Church Hill Memory Gardens with Benny Francisco, Troy Alley, Lynn Parker, James Phillips, Kerry Jackson, and Scott Gilbert serving as pallbearers. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 11:55 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, P.O.
